Courageous design combined with an attention to the most valuable of luxuries – time – is evident in the design, power and sheer excellence of the BMW 8 Series. Remarkable sporty looking, this gentleman of racers is soaked in luxury and given lashings of power to boot.
The exterior design of the 8 Series Coupe denotes the excitement it promises when you slide behind the wheel. Luxurious inside and out, this luxury sports coupe offers a choice of two engines – a twin-turbo 4.4 litre V8 petrol version or 3.0 litre straight-six turbodiesel. Both are supported with all-wheel drive and give plenty of torque up front when requested. This two door 2 + 2 coupe is far grander than the 6 series, and it shows in the angular lines, broad rear shoulders and larger than ever kidney grille that’s BMW’s classic mark. The grille incorporates active shutters o reduce drag and the option to specify a carbon fibre roof will reduce its weight and increase speed. Adaptive damping ensures the smoothest possible ride, even on rough surfaces and the optional active anti-roll works in harmony with other systems to alter thresholds when driving in sports modes.
While this coupe might be built for speed, BMW certainly haven’t skimped on comfort when it comes to the interior. The quality is impeccable, fit and finish is to a high standard throughout, ergonomics give driver and passenger multiple ways to adjust seating and the latest iDrive 7.0 infotainment system can be controlled with voice, gesture, touch and traditional button controls. Furthermore it’s intuitive and slick enough to use with ease. Menu options and apps are logically laid out so you never get lost in the system – even when driving. Driving tech is the best BMW have to throw at it too; Reverse Assistant function allows you to retrace your tracks in reverse if you’ve manoeuvred into a particularly tricky spot. ← read less
